The Gibraltar International Art Competition is back for its 51st edition, transforming the iconic Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery in Casemates Square into a hub of creativity and talent. Open to visitors from November 5 to November 16, 2024, this renowned competition offers a unique opportunity to experience diverse artistic expressions from local and international artists alike.

This year's competition invites artists to showcase their works, including paintings and sculptures. Each artist has the option to submit up to two pieces in each category, sparking an incredible variety in style, theme, and interpretation. What makes this event particularly exciting is the range of prizes awarded across different categories. The top prize, the Gustavo Bacarisas Prize, awards £5,000, recognizing the standout piece in the competition. Additionally, there are special awards for themes focused on Gibraltar’s culture, youth talent, and specific artistic styles, fostering a celebration of both technical skill and cultural reflection.

The gallery itself, nestled in Gibraltar’s historic Casemates Square, provides an inspiring backdrop for this exhibition. As visitors walk through, they can enjoy the works in an atmosphere rich with history, surrounded by a blend of modern Gibraltar and echoes of its past.

This exhibition not only highlights individual talent but also emphasizes art’s role in building cultural connections and creating spaces for reflection, discussion, and shared appreciation. For art lovers, collectors, and tourists, the Gibraltar International Art Competition is a must-see, offering a glimpse into the vibrant art scene that Gibraltar nurtures year after year.

Be sure to visit before the exhibition closes on November 16, and immerse yourself in the creativity that defines Gibraltar's artistic landscape.
